Teaching

Before I studied teachers, I was one. I still am.

Doctoral teaching at IPKL is underway; entries appear here as courses run. What is already true:

Language tutor & instructional designer

University of Education Language Center · Ho Chi Minh City · 2017–2020

Taught adult language learners and designed the courses they took: ten courses across proficiency levels, built on constructivist principles and aimed at scaffolding learner autonomy rather than delivering content at people. When the pandemic closed the classrooms, I led the migration to online delivery, which meant discovering, at speed and in public, just how much of teaching is not the material.

That period explains where my doctorate landed. The questions I now ask about teacher educators and AI are ones I first met as a teacher with a curriculum, a room, and a decision to make about what deserved my students’ time.

Analytics community of practice

Volvo Cars · Gothenburg · 2023–2026

Co-founded and ran an internal community of practice, coaching cross-functional teams in data-driven methods. Teaching adults who never signed up for a course, inside an organisation that measures things: a useful corrective to any romance about how learning happens.

Mentoring

I mentor early-career product managers and analysts through ADPList, mostly around analytics and AI product work. It is small-scale and steady, and it keeps me close to how practitioners reason about their tools day to day.

Earlier

B.A. in Mandarin Language Education (Ho Chi Minh City), focused on second language acquisition, learning theory and literacy identity in multilingual settings.
